Commissionerate of Tribal Development


The office of the Commissioner of Tribal Development facilitates the implementation of various programmes under Tribal Sub-Plan. The Deputy Tribal Development Commissioner looks after the development of the Primitive Tribal Groups amongst Scheduled Tribes and assists the Tribal Development Commissioner in the administration and coordination of development activities.

Some of the major roles and responsibilities of the Commissionerate include :

  • Implementation of BCK schemes including those related to education and hostels
  • Prevention of atrocities among tribals and distribution of caste certificates
  • Implementation of Forest Rights Bill
  • Monitoring and supervision of five points of the CM's Ten Point Programme
  • Handling of Gujarat Pattern funds at the district level
  • Handling of Government of India grants
