Gujarat Landless Labourers & Halpati Housing Board, Gandhinagar.


Gujarat Landless Labourers & Halpati Housing Board is incorporated vide Resolution No.MKN-1082-365-j-1 dated 20/01/1983 of Panchayat, Housing & Urban Development Department under Society Registration Act-1860. Board provides Subsidy fixed by the Government to the beneficiaries for the construction of Halpati Houses in the districts of Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Bharuch, Narmada, Vadodara & Chhotaudepur of South Gujarat.

  • Currently Government of Gujarat has not appointed Non-official Members. Commissioner, Tribal Development is in-charge Chairman of the Board.

Workspace of Board Activity

State Government has Fixed Workspace of the Board in the Districts of Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Bharuch, Narmada and Vadodara districts of South Gujarat.

  1. Scheme to Construct Pucca Houses from Kachcha Houses under Halpati Housing Scheme.

    Under Halpati Housing Scheme, Scheme to provide residential facility to the people of Halpati Caste is being implemented since 1963. In the beginning above scheme was being implemented by concerned collectors of the districts. In the year 1983, Board was incorporated and Government of Gujarat has entrusted above scheme to the Board from 01/04/1984.

    When above scheme was entrusted to the Board, Unit Cost of Halpati Aawas was Rs.5, 000/- Due to increase in the cost of labour and material. Government has increased unit cost to the extent of Rs.70, 000/- vide G.R. dated 24/02/2015 of Panchayat, Rural Housing & Rural Development Department. Currently vide G.R. dated 25/06/2018 of Tribal Development Department Government has fixed to provide Rs.1,20,000/- Subsidy per unit.

    Criteria fixed for eligibility of House.

    • The people of Halpati, Talaviya and Nayka community which comes under ST category and who possess Kuchha houses can get benefit of above Scheme.
    • Beneficiaries can construct their houses on their own land or plots allotted to them by the Government.
  2. Scheme for the Reconstruction of 20 years old Halpati houses which are old/dilapidated.
  3. Under above scheme the beneficiaries who have houses constructed under different Government Schemes like Halpati Housing Scheme, Sardar Awas Yojna, Indira Awas Yojna, Personal Housing Scheme or any other Housing Scheme in which Government has provided loan/Subsidy and which are 20 years old/dilapidated and not in the condition to reside can get Rs.1, 20,000/- subsidy to reconstruct their Houses.
