Project partner will have to ensure that the participating family will cross poverty line and maintain the level of income for one generation.
Government Support and Role
The nature and extent of government support will vary from project to project. However, in general, the average cost of assistance will be limited to Rs. 30,000 per BPL tribal family. Government support to the projects will be extended through the Tribal Development Department, which will leverage its TASP stream funds as well as funds of other departments.
Nodal Government Agency
D-SAG is the nodal agency set up by the Government of Gujarat for developing and facilitating projects with private sector as well as leveraging funds. It is also the key agency for conducting dialogues with other Departments wherever necessary.
Parameters and Selection Procedures for Private Sector
Screening on the basis of Expression of Interest: At primary level, few parties with potential will be selected and the criteria for primary screening will be based on.
Potential Areas for Private Sector Participation
Any agency with the relevant experience and competent in terms of technical, financial and human resources can partner with the government. The partners may be a private sector unit, cooperative or a public sector undertaking.
Rationale
Although the tribal belt in Gujarat has favourable agro-climatic conditions, it has continued to remain economically backward. There is thus a need for a multi-sectoral response that goes beyond the mere provision of agricultural inputs and facilities.
