  • OVERVIEW | Based on pre-agricultural level of technology, low levels of literacy, declining or stagnant populations, 75 tribal communities in 17 States and 1 Union Territory of India, were identified and categorized as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Considering the vulnerability of these groups, a Central Sector Scheme was introduced for their all-round development.
  • OBJECTIVE | To provide PVTGs with developmental inputs for accelerated growth and opportunities to improve livelihood, housing, access to safe drinking water, literacy and access to roads.
  • INCEPTION | 1998-99 (Further modified in 2007-08)
  • PARTNER | NGOs will undertake the developmental activities
  • GEOGRAPHICAL FOOTPRINTS | PVTG residential areas
  • INTENDED BENEFICIARIES | Tribal communities in the category of PVTG, which include Kotwalia, Kolgha, Kathodi, Siddhi and Padhar tribes
  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA | All PVTG Communities.
  • BENEFITS UNDER THE SCHEME | Creation of infrastructure, construction of roads, educational facilities, drinking water facilities, health facilities, agricultural development, land distribution to landless, cattle development, income generation activities, protection of tradition, etc.
  • KEY ACHIEVEMENTS | During year 2014-15 to 2019-20 the scheme has so far benefitted 30,000 people of PVTGs. During this period of Six years GoI released grant Around Rs. 41.92 Crore. Out of which is 100% utilization of the GoI released amount.
