rationale
Although the tribal belt in Gujarat has favourable agro-climatic conditions, it has continued to remain economically backward. There is thus a need for a multi-sectoral response that goes beyond the mere provision of agricultural inputs and facilities. The private sector, with its entrepreneurship, use of modern technology and the creation of skilled jobs, has a significant role to play in the economic main streaming of the tribal areas in eastern Gujarat.
The Tribal Development Department seeks to encourage an enthusiastic private sector involvement for poverty removal and leading a bottom-up growth process. The Government of Gujarat, through its resolution (GR No. VKY-102007-244(1)/P, dated 10 April, 2007) has laid down broad guidelines for the involvement of private sector to implement large scale projects under the Chief Minister's Ten Point Programme.
